The scar on Skye’s knee is shaped like a smile
Plot
About to embark on a world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley begins to experience increasingly terrifying and unexplained events. Overwhelmed by the ever-increasing pressure of horror and fame, Skye is forced to confront her past.
Skye Riley: [smiles at the subject] You’re not in control, I am!
In one scene, Skye places the VOSS water bottle on a rock/marble kitchen table and there is a sound similar to placing a plastic object. VOSS water bottles are made of glass, which is actually emphasized in the film, so the sound doesn’t match the action you see.
An improvement on the (good) original
Submitted by The 7PM Project: 2024 October 17 series (2024). Naomi Scott’s performance is superb, she’s so convincing and fully committed to the role that she elevates the film as a whole.
The rest is good, eg
Rosemarie DeWitt, but “Smile 2” is Scott’s film. The runtime is perhaps a little longer than it needs to be, although to be honest that’s only a minor criticism in the grand scheme of things.
Based on the ending, the next sequel could be a lot of fun – I hope!
Much of what’s on screen helps to eliminate any potential (minor) pacing issues, the violence and gore are quite overt, but it’s beautifully done and is exactly what we want to see from this type of production, let’s be sure. I will say that there are too many cheap jump scares here which I’m not a huge fan of, but as above, it’s not an idea that detracts from the overall quality of the end result.
