Land grabs threaten to destroy the declining dynasty
Plot
When the mighty Lawson cattle station has no heir, rival factions across Australia see an opportunity to seize control. The series was filmed in the Northern Territory and South Australia in remote locations that are barely inhabited – let alone on screen.
I think it’s a beautifully filmed series, the story overly melodramatic
Locations include the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kakadu National Park – with special permission from the traditional owners – and Tipperary Station, a real, working cattle station so large it has its own airport and school. The acting is fantastic, the relationships are intriguing, just the right amount of complexity.
I think it’s made for an international audience
Viewers outside of Australia may be scratching their heads over our gun laws while watching this. I lived in the Northern Territory for 8 years, there’s definitely not that much shooting going on between people, this is OTT.
A very watchable series
The destruction of the country and the constant manipulation is certainly true to life. The death and grief could be explored in more depth, although the legacy of psychological trauma does a good job of continuing throughout.
