Plot
Anora, a young sex worker from Brooklyn, meets and impulsively marries the son of an oligarch. When word reaches Russia, her fairy tale is threatened when his parents travel to New York to have the marriage annulled. At the New York Film Festival, films including Anora and the dangerous, strangely erotic Misericordia.
The composition is tempting
At a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival, Mikey Madison said that director Sean Baker and his producer wife Samantha Quan will play different sex positions to show the actors what he wants them to do. would do Close up: Anora (2024). Then the story hooks us
She marries unwisely (the immature son of a Russian oligarch) and then finds herself in a terrible traffic jam. There is a standout performance by Madison, but all the performances are good. The abundance of nudity and sex is unfashionable for a mainstream picture, but both this and the increasingly comic drama have a rare vitality.
The conclusion is not a disappointment
Also impressive places – Las Vegas and Coney Island in the off-season are skillfully captured. At well over two hours, it’s too long, but it almost holds our attention because we have no idea how it’s going to end. London Film Festival screenings are sold out and I’m not surprised.
