Both eerie and sophisticated, the latest film from writer-director Magnus von Horn tells the story of young factory worker Caroline, who struggles to survive in post-World War I Copenhagen. When she becomes unemployed, abandoned, and pregnant, she is taken in by the charismatic Dagmar to help run an underground adoption agency for unwanted children. The two women form an unexpected bond until a sudden revelation changes everything. Based on a chilling true story, THE NEEDLE GIRL offers a masterful gothic vision with deep contemporary resonance.
