Plot
It follows Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Badingham as they have a long-standing rivalry that comes to a head. Coincidentally, Aidan Turner has previously filmed at Chavenage House (The Priory in Rivals). The same filming location was also used to portray Trenwith House in the 2015 BBC TV adaptation of Poldark. I’m laughing at some of the reviews, apparently from readers who take themselves too seriously. This is an adaptation of Gilly Cooper. This isn’t a series to be intellectualised or morally judged. It’s so funny. Superb cast. Yes, RCB’s hair and eyes are the wrong colour. So is Tagis’s hair. But they work. Somehow. RCB will disappoint some for that reason. But Alex Hassell captures everything else about him. Danny Dyer is perfect. David Tennant is EXCELLENT as always. And Aidan Turner is just wonderful, if a little young to play Declan. He falters a little in the final third. But yeah. It’s incredible entertainment. I watched the whole thing in one go.
